Overview
The 2018 Land Rover Discovery is a 5-door SUV of the K2 class. The debut of the 5th generation of the Discovery model took place at the Paris Motor Show in 2016.
Sleek, curved LED headlights and taillights, combined with a short front and rear overhang, give the Discovery 5 SUV a more down-to-earth visual appearance. A streamlined windshield, rising waistline, and elegant, well-defined contours create a dynamic look that complements the superb aerodynamic performance and unrivaled interior design. The body-colored C-pillar, drop-down roof, and asymmetric elements on the back of the license plate are all echoes of previous generations of Discovery.
Engineers designed the 2018 Land Rover Discovery with a load-bearing aluminum body without a frame structure, making the car lighter than its predecessors by as much as 500 kg. The permanent all-wheel drive system, forced differential lock, low gears, air suspension and a range of electronic assistants allow the car to overcome any obstacles.
The range of power plants offered by the manufacturer for Discovery 5 consists of a pair of two-liter diesel units with a capacity of 132 and 177 hp, a 3.0-liter diesel engine producing 249 “horses”, as well as a 3-liter gasoline unit with 340 horsepower. All of them work in tandem with an automatic 8-speed ZF transmission.
