Overview

As before, you can choose your 2018 Range Rover Sport with a variety of engines. But the main novelty in the engine lineup for the Sport is the hybrid unit (and it’s the first plug-in hybrid in the history of the brand!).

Engines

Unit with a factory index P400e combines a 300-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine (also first shown on this particular model) and an electric motor with 116 horsepower. Together they produce 404 hp and 640 Nm, which means acceleration to the first hundred in 6.7 seconds. The 13.1 kWh battery located under the trunk can be charged in 7.5 hours from the home network or 2 hours and 45 minutes from a special terminal. On pure electricity you can drive up to 51 kilometers, the “maximum speed” in this mode is 137 km/h. The average NEDC-cycle consumption is 2.8 liters per “hundred”, as quoted by the developers.

Interior features

The shape of the steering wheel of the Range Rover Sport has not changed, but, like the entire cabin, it now looks more futuristic. The reason is that the inscriptions and markings are not applied to the material, and become visible only when illuminated. Therefore, until the scattering of screens and buttons, so generously covered with “royal” varnish, the sensation of lifelessness of the car creeps in. However, it disappears quickly, it is necessary to press the button to the start of the engine which, as well as earlier, is on the right side of the steering wheel. A virtual 12,3-inch scale of devices which now is part of a base complete set adds “multimedia”. The graphics in it have been updated, which was important because of the lack of image contrast (on a sunny day) on the 2014 Range Rover Sport. The projection display, too, is now in the 10-inch category: its functionality has been expanded.
